    FEATURES

    OPERATION
    The Model 740 Lighted Windsock system consists of three parts:
    (1) Frame assembly
    (2) Control Unit
    (3) Windsock
    The Frame is an electro-mechanical assembly providing a ring for mounting the windsock. A 4 inch square tubing assembly houses the electronics and is used for mounting the LED light assembly. Delrin type bearing hubs permit the frame assembly to rotate freely 360 degrees as the wind direction changes. Electronics inside the tubing assembly transfers power to the light assembly. A 1” NPT connection is on the bottom of the frame assembly for connection of support piping supplied “by others”. The light assembly is set for “steady burn”, however other flash patterns can be field programmed from the ground. The frame can be supplied with an optional top beacon. Several different top beacons are available. Our standard windsock frame is 18” diameter. 24” and 36” diameter frames are available on special order. Consult factory.

    The Control Unit supplies power to the lights in the windsock frame and can be a ACCU (Alternating Current Control Unit) or a SPCU (Solar Powered Control Unit).
    The ACCU-PC (Alternating Current Control Unit - PC) unit accepts an input voltage of 90 – 264 VAC, and its power supply has an output of 12 VDC. The Photo Control (PC) supplied with this unit determines when power is supplied to the lights and also to a top beacon when ordered. The ACCU-TS (Alternating Current Control Unit - TS) is supplied with a timer switch (TS) and controls when power is supplied to the lights, depending on how it is programmed. This unit can be installed indoors. Both control units are housed in a NEMA- 4X weather-proof enclosure.

    The SPCU (Solar Powered Control Unit) includes a 20 watt solar panel, a 12 volt battery and a sunlight controller. The battery is charged during hours of sun light. The controller is set for D/D (Dusk to Dawn - ON at sunset and OFF at sunrise). Other settings can be field changed. The battery and controller are housed in a NEMA-4X weather-poof enclosure. This unit only supplies power to the windsocks LED frame lights. An optional top beacon is available. See below.

    The Windsock is an FAA approved Int’l Orange - nylon windsock. The size of the windsock is determined by windsock frame size.

      • Windsock mounting ring offset from main tubing assembly by approximately 11 inches (front to back - depth)
      • Windsock light assembly mounts on center tubing assembly and does not restrict air flow
      • Ten (10) feet of interconnect wiring is supplied from windsock light/s to Control Unit
      • A 1" NPT connection is on the bottom of frame assembly for connection to 1" or larger support piping supplied "by others"
      • A 3/4" NPT connection is on top of the frame center support pipe for an optional Top Beacon

      Model 740LWF-WTB, windsock frame assembly with LED lights and Top Beacon
        Ditto Model 740LWF except Super bright, 360 degrees, red LED top beacon light assembly. Twelve field selectable flash patterns. Installed on mounting pipe above windsock frame. The Model 740LWF-WTB is used with AC powered systems.

      Model 740LWF-WFAA, windsock frame assembly with LED lights and Top Beacon
        Ditto Model 740LWF except with an FAA approved aircraft anti-collision red LED top beacon light assembly. Unit has 32 bright red lights that flash ON and OFF (approx. 0.25 seconds ON, 1.25 seconds OFF). Installed on BDS base assembly above windsock frame. The Model 740LWF-WFAA is used with AC powered systems.

        Ditto Model 740LWF except with an FAA approved red LED obstruction top beacon light assembly. The red LED top beacon operates as a steady burn. Installed on mounting pipe above windsock frame. The Model 740LWF-DFAA is used with AC powered systems.

        Ditto Model 740LWF except with Carmanah OL4R solar powered red LED top beacon (Obstruction) light assembly. "Steady burn" default flash pattern. Can be field programmed to many different flash patterns. Installed on BDS base plate assembly above windsock frame. The Model 740LWF-CTB is used with solar powered system.

CONTROL UNITS
    Model 740ACCU-PC / 740ACCU-TS, Alternating Current Control Unit (PC = Photo Control, TS = Timer Switch)

    • The same enclosure is used for both the ACCU-PC and ACCU-TS systems. On the ACCU-PC unit, the Photo Control is mounted on the outside of enclosure.
